City players visited the children this past Monday
THE STARS of Exeter City Football Club brought some early Christmas magic to the children and teenagers on Bramble Ward at the Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital by paying them a special festive visit.With the help of Build-a-Bear and WH Smith, the players gave out dozens of bears and toys, signed merchandise and other presents to the young patients, helping bring some Christmas cheer to the ward. The players who visited were Craig Woodman, David Wheeler, Will Hoskins, Alex Nicholls, Jamie McAllister, Lee Holmes and Arron Davies.
The players chatted with the children and their families about their time on Bramble and their plans for Christmas. Grecian the Lion was also was also on a hand to entertain patients and staff.
Exeter City Head of Commercial Mark Jenkins said: “We are very grateful to WH Smith and Build-A-Bear for helping provide the smiles on the day, and of course the players for their contribution. Most of all, though, our thanks go to the children, their families and Bramble Ward for allowing us into their lives at Christmas. The bravery of the children, the love of their families, the care and skills of the staff in Bramble Ward should inspire us all.”
Bramble Play Specialist Cara Bennett added: “It’s been brilliant having the players visit the Ward, and I think all of our patients and their families have enjoyed seeing them. Being in hospital at Christmas can be hard for children but special visits like this can make all the difference, so we’d like to thank the team for coming to see us again this year.”
