Defender moves to Meadow Lane
Notts County have today completed the signing of Scot Bennett, following the expiration of his contract with Exeter City. The 24-year-old was available on a free transfer and was not named on the Grecians’ retain list, after he expressed a desire to further his career away from St James Park.
Born in Newquay, Scot joined the Exeter City Academy as a youngster, and his professional debut came in 2011 as he replaced Troy Archibald-Henville as a late substitute in a 1-0 win against Swindon. The following season, he scored his second professional goal for Exeter against Notts County in a 2-1 defeat at Meadow Lane.
Bennett would go on to feature on a total of 141 occasions for City’s first team, including missing just a single game in the 2013/14 season. He featured in defence, midfield and attack during his time with City and found the back of the net on 18 occasions.
He captained the Grecians at the start of last season, and has now joined the Magpies ahead of 2015/16. Bennett’s new side will be visitors in the forthcoming season, following their recent relegation from League 1.
We would like to express our gratitude to Scot for his efforts over many years and wish him the very best for his time with Notts County and his future career.
