Two-goal matchwinner reacts to Orient win
EXETER CITY striker Jayden Stockley was delighted with his brace against Leyton Orient on Saturday. The AFC Bournemouth loanee now has three goals in his first two appearances for the Grecians since joining the club on Monday, and the most-recent couple came against one of his former clubs.
"It's always good to get the goals," Jayden said. "I happened to play against a lot of my former clubs with the amount of times that I've been out on loan, but we got the three points that we needed today, so job done as far as we're concerned. Before we could even think, we were one-down, but the lads trusted each other and bought into our tactics. We kept doing what we were doing, and that came out in the first half, which was a very enjoyable half to play in.
"It was nice to get a good, clean contact on the second goal, and the delivery for the first one was perfect. We had plenty of chances for goals, but we did get three, and we may have had a bit of fortune in the second half with the penalties, but you've got to get that if you want to push on for the play-offs.
"I just have to keep on timing those runs, as with the quality that we have in the team, the ball will be going into the right places. I was delighted to get the first goal, and so quicly in response too. I knew I timed the run right for the second, but it was odd to see just me on my own up there! I could have taken the touch, but sometimes you just have to back your ability and tuck it away. It's a natural thing that the second half would be different to the first, but fortunately for us they missed their two penalties; on another day Orient could have got themselves back into the game."
