📝 Martin Weiler scoops November's big Foundation prize

27 November 2019

This month’s BIG Foundation winner was a familiar face at the football club, the former Supporters' Trust chairman Martin Weiler.

Martin can be seen in the picture above receiving his cheque from City's operations manager Andy Gillard, during City's recent match against Cheltenham Town.

Since becoming community owned in 2003, Martin has been involved in many off-the-pitch aspects of the club, including co-ordinating the Kick it Out/One Game Community Group, trustee and chair of the Supporters’ Trust, club board member, trustee of CITY Community Trust, secretary of the Exeter City History Group and trustee of the new Exeter City Football Club Museum Trust.

Martin is a season ticket holder in the IP Office Main Stand and follows the Grecians to many away matches too. His favourite matches in recent seasons include both the Conference play-off semi-final away legs “They were both stunning comebacks and the victory at Torquay paved the way to a Wembley victory and back to the Football League” said Martin.

"I first saw City at St James Park in 1974 while a student at the University. My initial favourite was Lammie Roberstson quickly followed by the late great Tony Kellow. I have particularly loved seeing our Academy producing an endless conveyor belt of stars – everyone from Martin Phillips to Ollie Watkins and company.”

Martin will put the money to good use: "The timing couldn’t have been better as we are just booking a family holiday in Africa so the prize will come in very handy. I will also make a donation to the Supporters Trust’s excellent STARS campaign.”

About the Exeter City Foundation

The Exeter City Foundation is a great deal, particularly for those who are regular supporters of the club. For just £10 per month, members are entitled to a range of prizes and, if a season ticket holder, the additional benefit of cash back or a voucher for the ECFC Shop.

The City Foundation draw runs throughout the year, and overall there are sixty-seven prizes – of which sixty-four are cash prizes – all of which means that members have a GREAT chance of winning, all winners are Exeter City supporters and net proceeds go to good causes at the club.
