Exeter City Women return to league action on Sunday as they aim to maintain their 100% record against visiting Keynsham Town and continue applying pressure on top of the table AFC Bournemouth.
Keynsham have enjoyed a steady campaign to date, sitting fourth in the division after winning four of their opening seven games. Victories over Portishead, Selsey, Southampton Women’s FC and Torquay United have been accompanied by an FA Cup win over Bournemouth Sports Ladies as The K’s look to improve on last year’s ninth place finish.
The Somerset side arrive with a striker in form, Naomi Clipston hitting twelve goals in ten games to date. Vicky Vipond has seven goals in eight whilst Goalkeeper Charlotte Haynes has once again been an impressive performer in the Keynsham goal. Justine Lorton is a name that may be familiar to followers of Women’s football, the former England International and Arsenal player enters her twenty-eighth season.
The Grecians only have two more scheduled league games before the end of the calendar year and with AFC Bournemouth to follow on December 3rd Abbie Britton and Aaron Wakley will be keen to pick up three points and continue their strong current form. With two away ties in cup competitions seeing out the remainder of November, progress in those and dependence on the draw could make Sunday the final home game of 2023 for the team, so the perfect chance to head to Exwick and support the team.
