Gary Caldwell has given an honest assessment as a lacklustre City were beaten 2-0 by Northampton Town at SJP.
Sam Hoskins and Patrick Brough were on the scoresheet for the Cobblers, with City unable to threaten for large periods of the game.
"That was really disappointing and a poor performance, we just didn't get going," Gary said.
"We didn't deserve to get anything from the game and credit to Northampton. Tuesday night really affected us and the realisation that we're playing Saturday-Tuesday. If you want to be a big team and a big player, you need to stand up to that test.
"We did all we could to recover the players on Wednesday and Thursday, we prepared yesterday as we usually do. You have to be ready emotionally and physically, and we were nowhere near that today.
"When we played as bad as we did, we didn't cause them any problems."
