Exeter City Women are back in league action on Wednesday evening as Torquay United are the visitors to the Exwick Sports Hub (7.45pm Kick Off)
The Gulls are embarking on their first season in the National League after winning promotion last season.
Alan Wyatt has taken over the Manager’s position from Steve Elswood for this campaign and United will head to the Hub with a squad of familiar faces to Grecian supporters. Anthea Kaptein, Esme Kilburn-Thompson, Ocean Latto, Jana Richards, Dani Wyatt, Emily Eaton, Emma Hunt, Chloe Kind, Mia Preston, Lucy Palmer, Milly Klinkeberg and Nat Warman have all appeared in City colours in recent years.
The Gulls also have experience in former Plymouth Argyle midfielder Tracey Cross, whilst they have recruited well with the additions of Rachel Griffiths and Emma Hollingsworth.
Promotion to the National League is a big step for any team and Wyatt’s side have found it tough so far. Defeat at Portishead Town on the opening day was followed by a strong performance at Moneyfields in the League Cup, a late goal sealing a narrow 1-0 Moneys win.
The Cup fixture was reversed this past Sunday as the Hampshire side visited Devon, the Yellows taking a two-goal lead through a Hollingsworth double before Moneyfields ran out 5-2 victors.
Abbie Britton and Aaron Wakley’s side will be keen to keep the winning habit going and make it three from three in the League this season, the Grecians currently on a run of seventeen straight league home wins dating back to February 2022.
After a comprehensive win at Bridgwater, a disappointing defeat to Plymouth Argyle and a hard-fought win over a likely title challenger in Swindon Town, the Grecians will be looking for a strong performance and three more important league points.
