Ben Purrington has given his reaction after his first goal for the club gave City the lead before Charlton's late equaliser held the Grecians to a draw.
Purrington headed in from close range to cap off an outstanding opening five minutes for the Grecians. The next 80 minutes were an even contest in which Ben and his defensive partners stayed strong to keep Charlton quiet. In the 87th minute, a wayward header deflected off of Diabate and drew the game level to end 1-1.
City were dominant in the opening phases of the game, "I think we had chances early, we could've scored a few more goals, taken our chances and made life a bit easier for ourselves. At the end of the day, I think you take the point."
Ben's first goal for City came against his former club, "It's nice to get off the mark for the club, obviously I'm not known for my goalscoring. It's one of those, against a former club, which is always a bit awkward..."
