Exeter City are never ceased to be amazed by our loyal and valued supporters. Standing by your Club, the rousing support at SJP, travelling in numbers away and of course the fire response all spring immediately to mind.
Several years ago, the Club Board Chairman at the time, Richard Pym, in his first spell, had a simple but thoughtful idea: offer a free cup of tea to the first 50 away fans to arrive at St James Park. Since then, what began as a small gesture of hospitality has become a well appreciated and respected part of the matchday experience for fans visiting SJP.
Justin Dillon, a familiar face on the road with the Grecians, knew from experience just how much a small gesture can mean. Justin said: "I've been cheered by a free drink on several occasions after travelling for hours."
This season, Justin very kindly offered to fund the entire free 'hot drink' initiative for away fans visiting SJP. He has now been joined by another Trust Member, Ken Lamacraft, who has stepped forward to sponsor an additional 25 'Thank you for travelling” hot drinks to visiting supporters each match until the end of season.
Ken added: "I hope it will help create an even more positive welcome and lasting impression of the West Country for away fans to SJP."
Exeter City has long been recognised for its friendly and inclusive atmosphere. The combined sponsorship by Justin and Ken only enhances that reputation. Consistent Family Excellence reports have praised the warm welcome extended to both home and away supporters, and it's not just the Thank You For Travelling hot drink that makes a difference.
From our Match Day Ambassadors to volunteers and staff from the museum to the stewards, there's always someone on hand with a smile and friendly advice. It's that spirit of community and hospitality that sets Exeter City apart.
So, a heartfelt thank you to Justin and Ken for their generosity and to everyone helping to welcome our visitors and you our fabulous home support throughout the season.
Wishing you all a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. Thank you for your support in 2025.
