Match Preview: Brentford B U21 (PL Cup)

Brentford B preview

Exeter City U21 are back in Premier League Cup action on Tuesday night as they take on Brentford B in a 7pm kick-off.

City will be looking to build on last month's fine 1-0 win over Luton Town, thanks to Kieran Wilson's strike as they take on the Bees at SJP.

City's U21s made it to the knockout stages last time out before suffering a narrow 1-0 defeat to Tuesday's visitors Brentford B.

The Premier League Cup has been a useful platform in the past, allowing a transition between academy and first team football for many young players, with players like Liam Oakes, Tom Dean and Charlie Cummins having all benefitted from game time in the competition.

So head down to SJP and show your support for the boys!

From The Dressing Room

Kevin Nicholson and Frankie Phillips have spoken ahead of the match with Brentford B.

Kevin Nicholson: "It's great to welcome different teams to the football club and go head-to-head.

"We have watched back three or four of their games from the last few weeks so we know where they are at, what they do and how they try and hurt you and how we can hurt them.

"Without giving too much away my plan will be set them up in a way and drive the defensive side of it, but on the ball I want them to show me what they've learnt and what they think it will take to get into our first team. I want them to show the staff and fanbase that they get it and they can do it."

Frankie Phillips: "Playing in-front of supporters in a competitive game will be huge, hopefully I can play a couple games and show what I can do.

"The fans are brilliant - even warming up you can sense the atmosphere before we get going."
