Pierce Sweeney on big win on the road at AFC Wimbledon (A)

Pierce Sweeney post AFC Wimbledon

Exeter City captain Pierce Sweeney said the whole team had to 'dig deep' to earn a big three points on the road at AFC Wimbledon.

Jayden Wareham's header earned a first three points on the road in the League since beating Lincoln City in early October and the whole team contributed to the result.

Speaking after the match, Sweenz said: "It was hard fought, I thought we controlled the game very well out of possession. We had a lot of energy from the front boys and forced them long and the back line did really well with dealing with the onslaught of direct balls.

"We could have looked after the ball well, but Joe hasn't had too much to do. We came here knowing we would have to dig deep in moments - it's been coming and we would have liked a second goal to kill the game off - but we are really pleased and are looking to step forward now."
