Pierce Sweeney previews Mansfield Town (A)

Pierce Sweeney pre Mansfield Town (A)

Captain of Exeter City, Pierce Sweeney will be looking for his side to bounce back after disappointment a week ago at the hands of Rotherham United at St James Park.

"We didn't do enough, we didn't do the basics of what we've been doing to get where we are. I think it was quite obvious, I think if you watched the game you could see we just weren't at the races."

"We've been in a really positive place, a really good run of form at home and we've picked up some good results away from home as well over the last six weeks so now and again you sucker-punched, and we definitely got that on Saturday against Rotherham."

City now travel North of Nottingham to face Nigel Clough's Mansfield Town, a game that Pierce knows will not be a walk-over.

"It's always hard against Mansfield, I've played there numerous times under different managers and in different leagues and it's never easy. I think that football club has a DNA of how they go about things and how they make it difficult for you."

"They're going to be aggressive, they're going to be on the front-foot, they're at home and they're in a really good place in the league. Big respect for the manager there and the players with how they go about things."

"We'll have to show that we can match them first and foremost, and then we can show how good of a team we are and how many good individuals we have. We know we can beat anybody in this league."
