Taylor Perry on becoming a Grecian

Taylor Perry Interview

Exeter City's latest recruit Taylor Perry is delighted to have joined the Grecians as he embarks on the next chapter of his career.

The 25-year-old midfielder arrives at St James Park on a two-year deal after leaving fellow Sky Bet League Two side Shrewsbury Town at the end of the 2025/26 season. Perry brings a wealth of EFL experience with him, having made more than 180 appearances across Sky Bet League One and League Two.

Speaking after putting pen to paper, Taylor said: "It feels amazing. As soon as I came down and spoke to the manager, I knew it was a really exciting opportunity for me and the next stage of my career.

"I think everyone knows how big a club Exeter City is. Having played here in the past, the atmosphere at St James Park has always been incredible. It's a really attractive place to come and play my football over the next two seasons.

"Everything Matt told me about how he wants me to play really aligned with what I'm looking for at this stage of my career."

Taylor was also impressed by the club's infrastructure when he visited Exeter.

"The facilities are excellent. I was quite blown away when I came down last week. For this level, they're top-notch. Everything is there for us as players, so I was really impressed."

Describing the qualities he hopes to bring to the Grecians, Taylor added: "I'm a very energetic player. I like to get around the pitch and work hard for the team wherever I'm asked to play.

"I like to score goals and create assists as well. I'd describe myself as a box-to-box midfielder who can contribute at both ends of the pitch."

The midfielder also highlighted the connection between the club and its supporters as a major factor behind his decision to join City.

"Whenever I've played here, you can really see the connection between the fans and the club. The players, staff and supporters are all together, and when everyone pulls in the same direction you can really feel that unity.

"It's something that really attracted me to Exeter. The atmosphere has been brilliant every time I've played at St James Park, and I can't wait to experience it as a home player."
