Striker Sonny Cox signed his first professional contract with Exeter City during the 2021/22 season.

A product of the City academy, Sonny was regularly involved with the Under-18s during the 2019/20 season. The young striker made his first-team debut in the 2021/22 EFL Trophy campaign before signing his first professional deal with the Grecians midway through the season, where he was then loaned to Weston-super-Mare.

Sonny's league debut came in the following season as well as his first league goal, before he joined Bath City on loan for the remainder of the 2022/23 season. The following campaign saw Sonny gain more experience with Yeovil Town before he was recalled back to City for the second half of the season, where he scored five goals and saw his contract extended until the end of the 2025/26 campaign with a club option of an additional year, which was triggered ahead of 2026/27.
