Exeter City is thrilled to announce that six players have signed scholarships with the under-18s for the new season.
Six new faces have signed their two-year scholarships to join David Oldfield's side ahead of the 2026/27 season. They are:
Callum Grant
Callum has recently signed for the Club following a number of years at Brighton & Hove Albion’s Category 1 Academy.
Callum is a quick and exciting winger, who impressed the staff with his direct attacking nature, alongside a real tenacity out of possession. Left footed and capable of playing on either side of the pitch, Callum will provide a creative and attacking threat for the team.
Ben Lang
Ben is from Barnstaple, North Devon and signed for the Academy as an Under 11. He is an athletic and technically gifted player who has the capability to excel in a number of positions both defensively and in midfield areas.
Ben is extremely fit, hard working and will progress play with his receiving & ball carrying quality.
Lucas May
Lucas is an Exeter born player who has made his way from Pre-Academy at Under 8 all the way through to his scholarship at U17. He is a left footed attacking midfielder who is comfortably playing anywhere in advanced midfield areas.
Extremely creative in the final third, he can play the killer pass/cross, as well as contribute regularly with goals due to his composed finishing ability.
Joe Newport
Joe joined the Academy mid-way through the Under 16 season, after impressing in men’s football playing for Downton FC at step 5 of the non-league pyramid.
Joe is a tall and commanding central defender who has also demonstrated technical quality and composure to play out from the back and build the attack. Joe also provided a goal threat for the Under 16 team last season.
Jayden Sweet
Jayden lives in Plymouth and rejoined the Academy at the beginning of the Under 16 season, after representing the Academy in his earlier years of development.
Jayden is a central midfield player who demonstrates fantastic bravery to get on the ball and progress play with his impressive receiving & passing range. He is quick to the ball out of possession and has also shown an ability to score and assist from set pieces and in open play.
George Williams
George comes from Somerset and joined the Club as an Under 8. He has represented Wales at U15 and U16 age groups and scored at St James Park for the Under 21’s in last season’s Premier League Cup campaign.
George has an outstanding ball striking ability with both feet, regularly providing goals and assists for the team. George can play wide or centrally in attacking positions and uses his pace, power and technical quality to carry the ball forward and beat opponents in the final third.
Congratulations to all and good luck with the next stage of your Exeter City career!
