We are delighted to announce that one of our own, George Birch, has signed his first professional contact with the club.
The attacking midfielder, who has been with the club since under-14 level, has put pen to paper on a deal that will see him join Gary Caldwell's first team squad at the start of pre-season in just under a month's time.
"It feels amazing, because it is what I have been working towards the last two years. So to finally be offered a professional contract, I'm so proud to be honest," Birch said.

Birch's performances in red and white in front of a crowd have been limited to just a handful, so for supporters who may not know too much about him as a player, Birch has shared his journey and has summed up what they can expect from City's latest professional.
"I like to get on the ball and drive at players, create goals the best I can and sometimes I come deep to pick up the ball. I see myself most in that 10 position, where I can really get shots of and make stuff happened the best I can.
"I came here from Yeovil and right from the start I think the club seemed to like me and offered me to stay and once I hit under-15s I actually played down an age group for a little bit to get my strength up, as I couldn't really show my ability. That helped me get my scholarship."

Speaking following the retained list announcement earlier this month, first-team manager Gary Caldwell said: "George hasn't spent as much time with us, and it's a big step up to first team football to first team pre-season. So it's a big summer for him to make sure he comes in ready to hit the ground running with that as well."
Arran Pugh, Academy Director added: "George had a few injuries this season but has shown a lot of ability and great mindset to bounce back from set backs. He has really impressed in the opportunities he has had, whether that be the first team staff or the academy staff. We have been really impressed with his creatvity and some of his technical skills and his football intelligence."
