Devon Derby Memories

Ahead of Thursday night's Devon Derby at a SOLD OUT SJP, we check out some recent encounters between City and Argyle at the Park to get you in the mood for Derby Day.

The Grecians will be looking for a first taste of Devon Derby success since 2019's big win. If you were unable to get a ticket you can catch the action LIVE on Sky Sports!

1. Exeter City 4 Plymouth Argyle 0 | 26/10/19

It was Devon Derby delight as City thrashed Plymouth 4-0 at St James Park, thanks to a brace from Nicky Law plus goals from Tom Parkes and Randell Williams - who showcased his infamous backflip celebration.

2. Exeter City 2 Plymouth Argyle 1 | 02/04/16

City completed the double over Argyle with a scintillating win on home turf thanks to a late brace from Ollie Watkins. Jamille Matt opened the scoring for Plymouth midway through the second half, but Watkins' 80th minute strike levelled before the same man fired in a thumping effort in stoopage time to seal victory.

3. Exeter City 3 Plymouth Argyle 1 | 05/10/13

All the goals came after the interval - Arron Davies opened the scoring before Luke Young pegged back, but Exeter went on to win thanks to goals by Alan Gow and Scot Bennett, with Jimmy Keohane providing the assists.

4. Exeter City 1 Plymouth Argyle | 30/11/11

April 2011 saw Exeter City close in on their highest league finish for 30 years as James Dunne scored the only goal of the game to beat Plymouth Argyle 1-0 in the Devon derby.

It was a usually tight affair at St James Park between the two clubs, and it needed something special for either team to walk away as victors.

And that came just seconds into the second half as Dunne received Jamie Cureton’s pass to strike sublimely past David Button in the Argyle goal.
