Exeter City’s second signing of the summer, Josh Gordon has given his first interview where he expressed his delight at becoming a Grecian.
The experienced striker heads to EX4 with a wealth of experience in the EFL, having made over 250 appearances in League One and Two.
Speaking about signing on the dotted line, Josh said: “It feels good. I’ve played here several times with my previous clubs, and it's always been a big club, so it's nice to be a part of that.”
When asked how manager Matt Taylor sold the Club to him, Josh said: “When I first had a conversation with him, he wanted me to come down and experience the City and the lifestyle here. It’s not close to home but I had that good feeling factor, that gut feeling that this is the place where I can play my best football.”
Josh has been impressed by the facilities at the Cliff Hill Training Ground: “I didn't realise how good the facilities are, and you can tell why players develop here.
“Even for me, at my age in my career, I'm like a sponge, so I always want to develop and be the best I can be.”
Josh is keen to bring his experience to City’s young squad ahead of the 26/27 League Two season: “My experience can help them, and I can teach them my strengths as well, but at the same time I'll also be developing my myself - so it's a win win for both parties.
“I know the last season didn't go as planned, but it's a club which aren't going to rest on that and they're going to want to strive and get back to where they should be, and it's exciting to try and be a part of that.”
When asked how he would describe himself as a player, Josh said: “First and foremost, I'm energetic. I'll always leave everything out there. I like to score goals. The fans will never think I've not tried when I've come off the pitch, and that's the most important thing. I lead from the front and I put myself about, and I'll do the best I can for the team.”
