The Grecians kick-off their pre-season campaign on Saturday away to Truro City, with Matt Taylor looking forward to the prospect.
When asked about the challenges that could be posed by John Askey's Truro City side, Matt Taylor said: "It'll be a competitive game & a physical game, we've got to make sure that we're in the right position both physically and mentally."
"When we get hold of the ball we will have to use it, when you go away from home in pre-season the onus is usually on the away team to set the tempo, but we have to make an as realistic game as we can."
The two sides have developed a strong relationship in previous years, something Matt is proud of and hoping to maintain; "There's a few familiar faces at Truro, we've had loan players go there so there's a good relationship and we hope that continues."
While the Saturday will see all eyes on the match, the team are using a weekend in Cornwall advantageously to grow team cohesion on the Sunday; "We'll have a team-building day on the beach on Sunday, so its all part of the team social and there's a real dynamic there which is going to be dependant on a senior group as the rest of the squad is made up of young players."
