Exeter City return to St James Park on Saturday afternoon looking to build on a positive start to the season at home when they welcome Walsall in EFL Sky Bet League Two.
The Grecians will be hoping to turn home advantage into three points after playing out a 1-1 draw with Barnet at the Park on Tuesday night. Reece Cole’s second-half strike earned City a share of the spoils, with the result keeping City unbeaten at home.
Saturday’s visitors arrive in Devon in strong early-season form themselves. Walsall have taken eight points from their opening four League Two fixtures. Last time out they picked up a 2-2 draw at Crewe Alexandra.
The Saddlers are under the management of former Manchester United goalkeeper Lee Grant, who took charge ahead of the new campaign.
There is also plenty of history between the two clubs. The sides last met competitively in August 2024, when Walsall progressed in the Carabao Cup following a 1-1 draw. Before that, the most recent league meeting came in January 2022, when Exeter recorded a 2-0 victory at Walsall.
Kick-off at St James Park is at 3pm, with supporters encouraged to bring their friends, family and City colours and get behind the Grecians from the first whistle as always!

Junior Grecians Zone
The room provides a safe comfortable environment for families to enjoy pre-match entertainment, such as a large screen TVs, Playstation consoles and Table Football, as well as the option to enjoy refreshments from the Zone’s very own kiosk. The family room also has a volunteer providing face painting to show your colours.
The Zone is open to members from 12pm and children/families from 1:30pm.
The City Museum
The burgeoning Museum Room is open from 12pm on Saturday.
The purpose of the museum is to collect, preserve, share and celebrate the history and heritage of ECFC.
Our stadium-wide approach has produced a range of displays at every opportunity at St James Park. In the Optimising IT Adam Stansfield stand you will find the Hall of Fame displays and History of ECFC Timeline. The Road to Brazil in the entrance to the JG Zone (by the way the 1914 match ball is in the Museum and well worth a look), a list of every player behind Gate 3 and many other picture boards across the walls.

Previous Encounter
Walsall 1 Exeter City 1 (4-3 Pens) | August 13, 2024 | League One
A late equaliser and penalty shootout defeat meant that it was Walsall who progressed in the Carabao Cup, knocking City out in the first round.
City went ahead five minutes before the break after a brilliant move in midfield. Pedro Borges controlled the ball and laid it off to Caleb Watts, who bombed down the right-hand side before fizzing the ball into the box for Millenic Alli to flick over the goalkeeper.
Walsall responded in the second half by piling pressure on City’s goal, and while Joe Whitworth kept the lead intact ahead with a superb penalty save, he could do nothing to stop the Saddlers’ late equaliser. That strike, in the absence of extra time, took the cup match to penalties.
Ilmari Niskanen saw his penalty saved while Alli’s struck the post, and Walsall only missed one to put their name in the hat for the second round draw.
