Exeter City Women are delighted to announce the signing of Maya Kendell, this time on a permanent deal, subject to FA registration!
The popular wing-back returns to City after previously playing for the club on loan during the second half 2024/25 season, where she made 10 appearances and scored two goals in red and white.
Having spent last season playing for Watford and Oxford, Maya returns to Devon ahead of the 2026/27 season as a fully-fledged Grecian.
Maya began her senior football career at Bridgwater United, where she played alongside Bow Jackson and former Grecians Leah Burridge and Jenna Markham in the Robins' famous FA Cup Fourth Round match against Manchester United in 2022.
Moving slightly further north, Maya joined Bristol City's PGA side and made her first team debut for the Robins in November 2023 against Tottenham Hotspur. During the second half of the 2024/25 season Maya joined Exeter City as part of a double loan signing, making the temporary move from Bristol City alongside Fearne Slocombe.
She quickly made herself a fans' favourite at City, winning the Supporters' Player of the Month in January, while netting her first goal away at Billericay Town.
An unconventional finish from the wing-back secured three points against Cheltenham Town at SJP before she came on at half-time in the Grecians’ final game of the season against Watford and was instrumental in turning a 2-0 deficit around.
Now back once again in Devon's Capital, Maya is raring to get going, saying: "It feels unbelievable to be back to be honest. There's definitely unfinished business here for me, so I can't wait to get started.
"This club has never really left me, I've always been tracking what they're doing, how it's going and to be honest when Abbie reached out it was a no-brainer.
"I can't wait to help the club reach it's full potential."
City Women manager Abbie Britton was delighted to secure Maya back permanently as a Grecian, saying: "I'm absolutely delighted to bring Maya back to the club, she’s exactly the type of player we are looking for, ambitious, talented, and having a desire to keep pushing to the top.
"As a club, we've been very selective with our recruitment this year and Maya was one of the top targets on our list.
"Direct, quick, skilful, intelligent - she has the attributes to be top player, and I'm delighted that she's back with us as a permanent player this season!"
Maya will wear number 11 for the Grecians next season, and if you would like to sponsor our new recruit, please contact our Commercial team on commercial@ecfc.co.uk.
Welcome back, Maya!
