Request A Trial
The Academy scouts will constantly be observing games across the South West to identify the most talented young players in the area. Players identified by Academy staff may be invited for a trial with the Academy.
The Academy has a huge amount of trial requests every year, the initial trial will take place through either the Advanced Development Centre (ADC) or Regional Talent Centre (RTC). We are working with organisations that allows players to develop at their own speed and progress to the next level if and when they are ready.
Advanced Development Centres
Exeter City FC's charity partner, the City Community Trust, deliver Advanced Development Centres (ADCs) located around the Southwest of England.
ADCs are devised for talented young football players from the age of 6 to 14. There are five ADCs which are located in Exeter, Axminster, Cranbrook, Barnstaple and Bridgwater.
Training at the ADC takes place once a week (during school term time), as we encourage players to also continue training and playing matches with their schools and grassroots club.
There are also Events (during the school holidays) where Academy scouts and staff members are in attendance to assess players in addition to communicating with ADC coaches on player progression on a weekly basis.
The ADC syllabus is aligned with the Exeter City Academy. We share the same philosophy and want to develop well rounded young men, talented football players that hopefully go on to represent the Exeter City first team.
In the link below there is a form which can be completed to request a trial at your nearest Advanced Development Centre, we will be in touch when there is space available to trial at your requested centre. We also aim to host multiple Talent I.D events throughout each season, we will contact those who have completed the form when details of these events are confirmed.
Please be aware, completing the trial request form below does not instantly guarantee a tria l You can access the form by clicking here!
Additional to ADC's, City Community Trust runs many provisions for young players including After School Clubs and Holiday Clubs. These programmes are another great way for the Academy to identify players. Links to these programmes can be found here.
Regional Talent Centres
Exeter City Academy works with two external organisations in the form of Exeter RTC and North Devon RTC.
These organisations support the identification of talented young players in the South West, alongside providing a safety net for those who leave the Academy.
Exeter
Exeter Regional Talent Centre (RTC) delivers both a training only 'Progression Session' programme to complement grassroots football and a Junior Premier League (JPL) 'Match Squad' programme designed to move players closer to Academy level football.
Exeter RTC works closely with Exeter City Academy by using a syllabus that aligns with the Academy, delivers weekly match reports to the Head of Recruitment and organises fixtures across the season with Academy teams. This relationship has seen players move from the RTC to the Academy across all age groups.
Alongside the weekly programmes, Exeter RTC also hosts Elite Development Days exclusive to RTC players. These days are aimed at providing an Academy experience to players which include working on the ECFC Academy Core Skills, Classroom Match Analysis, Strength and Conditioning session and much more.
Finally, joining the RTC will allow you the opportunity to join one of our prestigious tours, which have included playing the likes of Athletic Bilbao and the Mexico National Team U15s!

North Devon
North Devon Regional Talent Centre forms part of the Exeter City FC player pathway. Players that attend the Barnstaple Advanced Development Centre (ADC) have the chance to represent North Devon Regional Talent Centre (RTC). North Devon RTC players will have an opportunity to play Exeter Academy throughout the season and potentially work towards earning a trial for the Academy.
