New Football League highlights show starts 9pm Saturday on Channel 5
EXETER CITY match highlights will be on a new channel in a new prime time slot this season. ‘Football League Tonight’ starts this Saturday at 9pm on Channel 5 and the new programme will show every goal from the Sky Bet Football League every Saturday this season.Hosted by Kelly Cates and George Riley, the new Channel 5 show will feature extended coverage of that weekend’s best matches across the three divisions.
Players, managers and fans will also be encouraged to join the presenters in the studio each week, or take part in the conversation via Skype and Facetime. As the programme is broadcast live, viewers can use the handles @footballon5 on Facebook and Twitter or use the hashtag #footballon5 to interact with the show.
Fans who miss the 9pm Saturday evening show will be able to catch up with ‘Football League Tonight’ on Demand 5 on multiple platforms, while it will be repeated at 10am on Sunday morning on Channel 5 and shown on Spike TV at 11:40pm on Saturday evening.
It has also been confirmed that ‘Football League Tonight’ will continue in weeks where there is no Sky Bet Championship programme and will provide a special focus on the very best games in Sky Bet League 1 and Sky Bet League 2.
Executive Producer for Channel 5, Mark Sharman, said: “Kelly and George make an exciting new combination. They are strong editorially, really know their football and aren’t afraid to add humour to the mix. We think the Football League is a great product and we intend to capture the passion, devotion and sometimes the disappointment that comes with following a League team.”
Don’t miss the first ‘Football League Tonight’ show at 9pm this Saturday on Channel 5.
