✍️ Charlie Cummins signs for City

Welcome to Exeter, Charlie!

26 January 2024

We are delighted to announce the signing of talented young Irish midfielder Charlie Cummins from Cobh Ramblers, subject to EFL and FIFA approval.

The 18-year-old joins from the League of Ireland First Division side on an initial two-and-a-half year deal, with Cummins set to join the group of under-21 young pros to continue his development.

Cummins joined Cobh as a 15-year-old, where he progressed up through the age groups to the first team in Autumn 2023, making his league debut against Kerry having already featured in a Munster Senior Cup Final win over Cork City in August.

As a grassroots player, Cummins played for his local side Blarney United until his move to Cobh, and both clubs are now due compensation following Charlie's move to SJP. The club would like to thank Blarney United for the manner in which the transfer has taken place. The club would also like to thank Cobh Ramblers for their willingness to allow Charlie to explore his options with us on trial and their communication throughout the process.

Manager Gary Caldwell said: "He is someone we got in on trial a couple of weeks ago and it felt only right to bring someone in with a profile that is hard to find in the modern game.

"He is an aggressive and tenacious midfielder and a few players felt the power of his tackles! He has a big future and pleased he is here. He has been training with the first team every day and will go into the PDP group with the extra training too.

"We have to progress him slowly, but he is eager to make an impact and he is someone that we are bringing in with the hope of being in the first team longer term."
