The Foundation’s first big winner of 2024 is Tim Spencer who wins January’s £1,000 prize.
Tim is pictured receiving his cheque from Trust Board member, Pete Ferlie, Tim has no immediate plans for the money, but will put it in his 'rainy day' fund for now.
Tim has been a supporter for many years and remembered some of the highlights of that time: "The first memories of watching City at SJP were attending the 6-0 win over Hartlepool United in Jan 1970 (which would be around 50 years ago!). I used to sit in the Old (wooden) Grandstand with my late Grandfather, Francis (Frank) Conway.
"I've been a regular since then, having witnessed the up and downs of the team as I grew older in the Cowshed, Big Bank (when it was without cover) and occasionally sat in one of the newer stands. With my partner, Jill, we've supported the club through the Foundation, but also being Season Ticket Holders, Red or Dead contributors, Player Sponsors and (most importantly) Trust Members, joining as soon as we could after its inception. We've also been lucky enough to be chosen as Directors of the Day for a match against Luton Town (Lost 4-1) in 2017, look where they are now!
"As for my favourite games, I have good memories of the 5-1 win at SJP against Sheffield Wednesday, when the game was one of the few played at that time due to snow, and the FA Cup home tie in 2016 against Liverpool which ended 2-2. As you can imagine, I have witnessed many fine performances by City players. My favourites being Ethan (and his dad Kwame!) Ampadu and, of course, Ollie Watkins (from recent times), and the late Lammie Robertson, Ryan Harley, Alan Gow and David Noble (all gifted midfielders), and Jamie Cureton, Steve Moran, Tony Kellow and Fred Binney (lethal strikers)."
