City's Tuesday night match winner has given his thoughts as the team look to build on that win over Bristol Rovers when they head to Barnsley on Saturday.
'Cox in the box' has been the match winner in all three of the Grecians' last three league wins, and is a man in form after returning from a loan spell at Yeovil Town.
"At the start of the season I wasn't playing too close to Jack [Aitchison] but recently I have been and it has been a really good partnership," Sonny said.
"Any time he shoots, you know when it's going to come and you have to anticipate that there may be a rebound or a keeper save. From the experiences at the start of the season, the confidence was low, but since I've come back my mindset has been different and I've focused on doing the simple things well.
"On Saturday, we know it will be a tough game but our confidence is high after Tuesday."
