❤️ Pete Eveleigh named our Community Champion

There was only one person that deserved this award

1 March 2024

As part of the Premier League's Wider Football and Communities campaign, Exeter City Community Trust have nominated Pete Eveleigh as the 2024 Community Captain.

Pete was the Premier League Kicks Lead and Inclusion Officer with the Community Trust, developing the Chances programme that has worked with over 300 young people to offer alternative education and improve their physical and mental wellbeing. In November of 2022 Pete was diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease and is currently battling the life changing nature of the disease.

Whilst no longer working with the Charity, we continue to support Pete and his family, Wife Jess and Son Oliver, through a difficult process. The Eveleigh Family have taken their own fight to the disease and our doing incredible work to highlight Motor Neurone Disease, setting up their own charity Mind over MND to raise both funds and awareness.

Pete has had a considerable impact on so many young people during his work with the Community Trust, creating a positive environment in both the Premier League Kicks and Chances programmes. The joy in helping to change young people's life outlook and self worth has been an achievement that Pete is rightly proud of.

Operations Manager Andy Gillard welcomed Pete and his family to the Cliff Hill on Thursday afternoon for a tour of the venue, from the wash room to the gym and even a preview of 'Chef Chenko' John House's lunchtime offering for the players. Exeter City Manager Gary Caldwell and Captain Pierce Sweeney were presented with Mind Over MND clothing, in turn presenting Pete with his Community Captain award as four year old son Oliver proudly looked on.

We continue to be in awe of the work that Pete and Jess are doing in their fight with Motor Neurone Disease and continue to stand by them in whatever direction their battle takes them.

We proudly announce the Premier League Community Captain for Exeter City Football Club 2024 - Pete Eveleigh!
