Supporters returning to St James Park for the start of the new season will see some ongoing improvements to the Centre Spot bar, which is being thoughtfully upgraded to improve capacity, comfort and atmosphere.
While the refurbishment is not yet complete, several key enhancements have already been made. The original flooring, which we believe dates back to 1908 when the building was a school, has been carefully restored, providing a nod to the building’s heritage, while new seating has been installed to boost capacity and improve the overall experience for visitors. In addition, the previously fixed sash windows have been replaced with opening units, significantly increasing airflow and creating a brighter, more welcoming space.
As part of the ongoing changes, the Real Ale bar has now moved to the far end of the room, where further improvements are planned in the weeks ahead. The area is still a work in progress, and we recognise there is more to do - including bringing in more Exeter City character and history to make the space truly feel like home. We’re pleased to be working with ourMuseum team on the development of club-themed artwork and memorabilia to celebrate our rich heritage and create a space that reflects the passion of our fans.
Our ambition is for the bar to become a more versatile and inclusive space, available for a wider range of events. For example, this Saturday’s first League One match of the season will be screened live in the bar, giving fans another way to enjoy matchday together.
While there’s more to come, we appreciate your support and patience as we continue to enhance this space for everyone. This is just the beginning - and we look forward to sharing further updates as the transformation continues.
