Dan Green on EFL Trophy win over Spurs U21 (H)

Dan Green post Spurs U21

Exeter City's assistant manager Dan Green has said that tonight's game was a 'really useful evening' as City picked up three points in the EFL Trophy.

A first half goal from Danny Rose and Louie Cayless' first senior strike got City off to a winning start in this year's competition at SJP.

Speaking after the match, Dan said: "A really useful evening. I said yesterday about trying to win on multiple fronts and obviously fantastic that we managed to get the win with the result tonight.

"I liked lots of elements of the performance. It wasbrilliant that some of the players that haven't had as many minutes got those and had the opportunity to put themselves forward for Saturday. Plenty to work on both as a group and individually. But that's why the night was so useful. We learned so much about individuals and the team."

Speaking about Louie Cayless' first career goal, Dan added: "He deserved it. I thought his performance was excellent. The manager just said there he's got a real pitch personality. And I think really it caps off a great day for the u18s.

"They were here tonight watching their team mate. They've just played so well in the day and and we've just watched them. So a really positive day for the football club and for the Academy."
