Exeter City beat Tottenham Hotspur U21 in the opening game of the 2026/27 EFL Trophy.
Frankie Phillips was gifted his senior debut, an opportunity that the young goalkeeper was delighted with. "Yeah, it was felt brilliant. It's kind of what you want, when you join the club as a young lad, to make your senior appearance. In the third season I've been here, I've managed to do that, which is a very proud moment for me."
Phillips also marked his senior debut with a clean sheet, something he was hoping for before a ball had been kicked "That's exactly what I thought in the changing room beforehand. I'd love to get a clean sheet and that's what I've done. So. Yeah. Couldn't be happier."
