Ethan Brierley on signing for City

Ethan Brierley Interview

Summer recruit number four Ethan Brierley has given his first interview as he put pen to paper on a season-long loan deal from Brentford.

Following in the footsteps of Ryan Trevitt, Tristan Crama and Tony Yogane, Brierley became the latest player to strengthen the relationship between City and the Bees, with the former Rochdale youngster looking forward to getting going at a club he feels can aid his development.

“I’m delighted, and when my agent mentioned it a couple of weeks ago I was really happy and wanted to get it sorted quickly. I’m glad we got it sorted before the season started,” he said.

“I was really happy with what the manager had to say when I met with him on Sunday and I can’t wait to get started."

"He showed me clips from last season’s games and how he thinks I can fit in as a player. Hopefully I can come here and kick on and show people what I can do.

“Brentford knew it was time for me to go and play men’s football again – I had a bit of it at Rochdale before I moved – and I wanted to come out and try people what I can do. This feels like the place to do it. From what they’ve told me, I know it’s a good club – especially from playing them last season twice too. Lots of people come and do well.”

Brierley arrives at SJP as the fourth Brentford player in recent seasons to make the loan move, and it’s one of his aforementioned teammates that nudged the 21-year-old towards choosing Devon as the place to further his career.

“I spoke with Tristan and he had nothing but good words to say about the club and I thought there would be no better place to come if players like him [and Trevitt and Yogane] can come here and be successful.”
