Following City’s narrow defeat to Cardiff City in the Vertu Trophy, Gary Caldwell shared his thoughts post-match.
A second-half goal from Callum Robinson saw the visitors walk away with all three points in the opening group stage game of the Vertu Trophy.
“The result is disappointing, but the performance was very good,” said Gary. “I thought it took us 20-30 minutes to get going, I think we showed them a little bit too much respect in that period.”
“It’s never good to lose, but there are so many pleasing aspects that we can take into training this week and take into Stevenage on Saturday.”
“I thought for a group of players that have probably never played a game together, they did that well after 20-30 minutes.”
“I’ll take the performance, I want us to turn that into victories, I want us to turn those chances into goals, but after the game on Saturday I think it has been a good reaction.”
