Following City's 1-0 victory against Swansea in Pierce Sweeney's testimonial, Gary Caldwell shared his thoughts.
Sonny Cox's goal midway through the second half was the difference between the two sides as the Grecians finished their preparations for the 25/26 campaign unbeaten.
"A good result to beat a Championship team but the more pleasing aspect would be the performance," the City manager explained.
"How we dug in when we didn't have the ball, I thought our structure out of possession was very good, our structure and our intensity for long periods of the match were very good."
Cox's goal was his third during pre-season, and with Jayden Wareham scoring yesterday against Torquay, Gary was pleased with both strikers netting over the weekend.
"Two games, two number nines scoring, but not only that I thought his work ethic and defending from the front alongside Reece was exceptional. We want to be a team that's really hard to beat and I thought Swansea saw that today."
