Pierce Sweeney reflects on his testimonial victory over Swansea City

Pierce Sweeney post Swansea City

A date that's been months in the making - Pierce Sweeney's Testimonial match finished with a 1-0 victory against Swansea, and the City captain was as equally pleased with the day as the result.

Still working on his fitness after almost seven months out injured, Sweenz played the first 30 minutes before being withdrawn to a standing ovation.

"I should probably get that every week!" Pierce joked. "It's really special, the relationship I've got with the club and the fans, the club loves players who are dedicated to the club and I think I'm one of them."

Sonny Cox's goal was the difference between the two sides, and Sweenz was pleased with how the young striker's pre-season has gone.

"Really, really happy for him, I think he's had a good pre-season, he's really filled his body out and he looks like a proper man now. So I'm really excited to see how he gets on this year."
