Manager Gary Caldwell has given his thoughts as the Grecians picked up an important 2-0 home win over strugglers Shrewsbury Town.
After two draws, City continued good momentum from the 0-0 at Reading in midweek with a victory thanks to goals from Caleb Watts and Demetri Mitchell even side of the half-time break, in a game where Caldwell's side looked largely comfortable.
"We created big chances and could have gone on to score more, but 2-0 is fairly comfortable in the end and it's a huge three points."
"We showed great mentality and real team spirit. The togetherness has really grown in the last week. We had to stand up to pressure, but it didn't effect us and we kept going forward, and thought we could have scored more in the second half with a bit more quality in the final third.
"But I can't ask more of the players, they are giving so much."
