Jack Fitzwater reacts to defeat against Port Vale (A)

Jack Fitzwater post Port Vale

Exeter City captain Jack Fitzwater has said the team lacked quality today, after falling to a narrow 1-0 defeat at Vale Park.

Speaking after the match, Jack said: "The game has been decided on a just a lack of concentration. And it wasn't just that I thought after the 50th minute, for some reason, we took our foot off the gas and it was coming.

"They weren't really testing us massively with chances, but the feel of us, we got deeper and deeper and didn't do what we'd done for the first 15 minutes, which was when we had total control of the game. We had chances and we didn't finish them and didn't make the most of our good opportunities.

"I think you've got to look for the senior figures and I'll keep stepping up where you can week out and keep putting my body on the line and it's up for other players to do so as well. There's no commitment issues. There's no, lacking of honest hard work. It's just I think it was pretty obvious for everyone to see we lacked quality today in especially going forwards. And that's not just forward players. That's everyone that's from front to back. That's a that's a whole team problem.
