Exeter City defender Jack Fitzwater has given the first interview of pre-season as the squad return for pre-season training today!
"I'm glad to be back, said Jack. "The first day was very, very warm, we were in the gym this morning and doing testing. It was nice to see some familiar faces again and I'm just raring to get going again."
The boys have returned to a mini heatwave in the UK and are finding the conditions testing, when asked for tips how to cope, Jack said:
"I really don't know at the minute because I bought two fans and it just feels like they're just pumping hot air, so they're doing absolutely nothing for me but I think I need to take a few ice baths.
The first few days of pre-season ease the players back in with a lot of testing:
"This morning we did height, weight and skin folds, which is the worst thing after a long break. Just the general testing on your hamstrings, your knees, a few jumps just to see where you are.
"And then we were out on the grass with the balls, which was nice just to get back used to it. I think the real hard tough work starts tomorrow, which I'm sure will be fun in the 35 degree heat.
"I think all the boys have come back in good shape and we're raring to go. They have come back fitter than they ever have done in the off season. The boys go to loads of different clubs, use different gyms and stuff. We're looking forward to it and looking forward to a really tough but enjoyable pre-season.
