Jake Doyle-Hayes ahead of Wycombe Wanderers (H)

Jake Doyle-Hayes pre Wycombe

City's number 31 speaks with us ahead of Saturday's meeting with Wycombe Wanderers in the FA Cup.

A period of injury that saw Doyle-Hayes having to watch from the sidelines has finally curtailed, a return to first-team action came last weekend in City's 1-0 loss away to Bradford City. "It was tough having to watch the games, I wanted to be out there every minute. I suppose behind the scenes I would give support to the lads while working hard in the gym."

Saturday's challengers Wycombe are a team that have already been beaten by the Grecians this season, a scrappy 1-0 away win in August coming before managerial changes have rejuvenated the Wanderers. "I think everyone is excited for the game, we've got a chance to progress to the next round and I think everyone wants to go on that cup run."

Despite joining in the summer transfer window, memories of City's fortunes in last-season's FA Cup run have not been lost on Jake and the rest of the team. "In the changing room some of the lads have been talking about it, and those are the games that you want to play in, but we have to do the business on Saturday first and then look forward to those types of draws."
