The Exeter City Foundation main winner for October is Janice Everett, who has won the £1,000 first prize. Janice is pictured with her father Roy at Saturday’s game against Reading receiving the cheque from City Media Manager, Scott Palfrey.
Janice will be sharing her winnings with Roy and then spending the rest of the money on a trip for her and boyfriend Martin Clarke, also a City supporter, to visit her sister in Cyprus, as they haven’t seen each other for a while. Janice and Roy are both in the Foundation and always share any winnings, they are big believers in supporting the Club in this way. Roy is also one of the Senior Reds' oldest members.
Janice is originally from outside of area, but has been a Exeter supporter since moving to the city, “I have supported City for at least 30 years, firstly from the Cowshed before moving to the then Ivor Doble stand with dad. We go to City games together and it’s a brilliant experience for us both as it’s a family orientated club and it is something we can enjoy together as father and daughter.
"Over the years my favourite games have been the 2008 Blue Square Premier play-off when Exeter won the second leg 4-1 at Torquay’s Plainmoor to get to the final after a first leg deficit (I was interviewed by TV! And said it’s a great day for Exeter City and a great day for the City of Exeter). Also of course, the famous Exeter City vs Man United home game in 2005 which had extra significance for us as we originally moved down here from the Manchester area and were United supporters, but of course were supporting City that day!
"My favourite players have been firstly Ollie Watkins, always loved him as soon as he arrived at the club, you could tell he was something special, I am so proud that he has become as successful as he has largely thanks to the academy and he is such a lovely person too. And of the present players, I like Ilmari Niskanen, always gives 100% every game he plays in, is friendly, takes time to chat to all fans after the games and is now involved in community projects with the club to steer young people away from crime. A real role model.”
