Assistant manager Kevin Nicholson has given his thoughts as the Grecians prepare to take on Wycombe Wanderers at Adams Park on Tuesday night.
City will be looking to bounceback after defeat to Mansfield on Saturday at home, while the Chairboys are also looking for their first league win of the season.
"Wycombe are a different animal this season and are trying to play more and be more expansive as they go through a change of style," Nicho said in comparison to the Wycombe side last year.
"That will see some exciting times for them, but there will also be some sticky play as they try and understand how the manager wants them to play, so we have to try and make it as difficult as possible for them and not give them a chance to get into any rhythm.
"They have some big strong players and they have that threat, but they will be a different type of obstacle than they have been in the past."
