Kevin Nicholson who, alongside Dan Green, has stepped in to steer the Exeter City ship following the departure of Gary Caldwell reflects on an eventful afternoon at the Weston Homes Stadium.
A frantic affair that saw the points shared come the 90th minute, Kevin Nicholson knows that it will take the team some time to digest this afternoon’s game,
“I think the general feeling in the changing room is one of disappointment that we didn’t win.”
“We felt like after the first half if we could up it by just 10%, the game was there for us.”
The Grecians began the opening 15 minutes of the second half with a fire in their belly, as Jayden Wareham netted three goals in eight minutes to turn the game on its head.
“It’s brilliant [for Jayden], it really is. We know he’s a really good finisher but if I’m being honest, I don’t think he played as well as he can.”
“When he gets going and gets on a roll there’s not many better strikers in the league.”
Charlie Cummins was straight into the matchday squad following his recall from Weston Super Mare, a cameo at the end of the game more than satisfactory for the onlooking Nicholson.
“Charlie is very hungry, he’s very determined, he’s got a bit of bite about him – he’s a nice lad but on the pitch he’s not.”
“When he came on, he did what we expected; he got to the ball quickly, he put pressure on the opposition, he went on with a real grown-up attitude.”
