Exeter City host Stevenage on Saturday as they return to Sky Bet League One action at SJP, Liam Oakes excited for the prospect.

The Grecians come into this game following a tough weekend in Manchester, exiting the Emirates FA Cup at the hands of Manchester City. "Everyone was buzzing for the game but obviously afterwards it was disappointing because we knew what we could do and losing there 10-1 isn't what we wanted to do at all."

"It's mixed emotions; the experience was incredible but the outcome of the game wasn't what we wanted."

Despite coming out on the wrong side of the scoreline, a light was shone onto the academy players within the team as Liam's early header was pushed onto the crossbar and substitute George Birch scored the finest goal of the game late on.

"I'm buzzing for Birchy after all the injuries and what he's been through. I almost scored that header at the start, I didn't really know what happened. I didn't expect to be there it just happened so quick."

Stevenage make the journey to EX4 on Saturday for a return of league action at St James Park as Liam hopes to continue the impressive run of form of home turf. "Obviously over the Christmas period we picked up a lot of points. In the league we've been doing incredibly well, so we need to keep that going."
