Luca Woodhouse on signing for Exeter City

Luca Woodhouse interview

Fresh from putting pen to paper on a permanent deal, new signing Luca Woodhouse has given his first interview as a Grecian, expressing his excitement to get started in Devon.

The versatile 20-year-old defender has signed a two-year contract with Exeter City, with the club holding an option for a third year.

Speaking about joining the club, Luca said: "It feels really good to be here. I first spoke to the manager last Thursday, had a really, really good conversation with him and I can't wait to get started. As soon as I knew the interest was there, I didn't have to think twice to be fair and it was a great call.

Luca began his career with Tonbridge Angels before earning a move to Wycombe Wanderers in 2022 after impressing during a trial and explained about his career path that led him to St James Park. Reflecting on his journey, he said:

"I started in non-league at Tonbridge Angels, and stayed there until I was 17. I then joined Wycombe Wanderers after a trial and spent three years there. Last season, I was on loan at Dagenham for the first half of the season and then at Aldershot for the second.

"Aldershot was great. We won the FA Trophy at the end of the season, which was a fantastic memory and a really proud moment for me."

Pre-season officially begins tomorrow, and Luca is eager to hit the ground running: "I'm really looking forward to meeting all my new teammates. I'm just in for testing today, but I can’t wait to get going."

Asked how he would describe himself as a player, Luca said: "As a defender you have just got to defend first, you know, be aggressive, win your duels and then once you get the ball down. I do like to play. I like to play on the floor, I like to break lines.
