We are delighted to announce the first signing of the 2025 summer transfer window, as defender Luca Woodhouse joins the club on a two-year contract, with a club option of a third year.
The 20-year-old arrives at St James Park as a free agent following his departure from League One side Wycombe Wanderers at the end of the 2024/25 season,
A left-footed defender, Luca is comfortable as a left centre-back or in the middle of a back three. His versatility allows him to fill in at left-back or central midfield, offering flexibility to the squad.

Luca began his career with Tonbridge Angels before earning a move to Wycombe Wanderers in 2022 after impressing during a trial. He gained valuable senior experience through loan spells at Slough Town, Worthing, Banbury United, and Dagenham & Redbridge. Most recently, he enjoyed a standout spell at Aldershot Town, where he made 20 appearances and scored once during a productive loan spell. He also made his Wycombe debut in December 2024, featuring in the EFL Trophy against Swindon Town.
Speaking about bringing Luca to Devon, manager Gary Caldwell said: “Luca is someone Malcolm Crosby has watched a lot. He had a fantastic season last year on loan, especially in the second half of the season at Aldershot, where he played mainly as a left centre-back and in midfield and the middle of the back three.

“We believe he can make the step up and contribute. It’s a big step and we’ve had it with Millenic Alli and Vincent Harper in recent years – he is somebody we believe that over time will become a big player for the club.”
Welcome to St James Park, Luca!
