Exeter City Manager Matt Taylor said he is 'disappointed' with the result after the Grecians fell to a narrow 1-0 defeat to Grimsby Town at Blundell Park.
Rodgers' first half goal was enough to separate the two sides, but City created a number of chances that could have seen them head back to Devon with something to show for their efforts.
Speaking after the match, Matt said: "We are obviously disappointed with the result and certain moments within the game made it very difficult for us to get a foothold, often enough to threaten the opposition goal. We've had the best chances. I know they've had the the main aspects of the ball and box entries, but we've had the best chance in the game, including Jayden toward the end, so we could have stolen a point.
"We could have got something out of the game and the first half had very little in it. It came down to the set piece moment, and that's a little bit of us at the moment, and we're so honest in our work and then a set piece moment has cost us again afternoon, which is a real shame and something I don't want it to be coming a pattern and we can't allow that to happen.
"I think that was probably a reflection of one too many duels where we're second best. We certainly created enough chances, probably to come away with a point at the end of the day as well, but we've got to put the ball in the back of the net. Christie Pym made one save from Fitzy's header and Ed James had the best chance of the back post header, and we have to hit the target."
