Exeter City manager Matt Taylor has given his reaction as a very young City XI were narrowly beaten 2-1 by Torquay United at Plainmoor in pre-season.
The Grecian XI was made up of Academy products and summer signing Josh Gordon, with Kieran Wilson netting for City. Speaking after full-time Matt said:
"21 minutes in it was a clear worry in terms of the pattern of the game and the strength of the opposition compared to our players. But we found a way to get through a difficult first half and grow into the game.
"Our keeper made some outstanding saves and put in an incredible performance. But the rest of the team grew to a certain level tonight. We weren't good enough to get anything out of the game, but we were good enough to be competitive and to make it a real game of football. Like I said, after 20 minutes, it probably didn't look like that."
