Exeter City ended their 15-game winless run in style with a 3-0 win at St James Park against Doncaster Rovers.
The onus was certainly on the Grecians to impress from the get go to continue a fight towards survival in Sky Bet League One, with Reece Cole pleased of the team's performance. "It was a great performance from the lads, we stuck to the game plan and at times you could see how they [Doncaster Rovers] could hurt us, but we stuck together and stayed as a unit to limit them to few chances."
After a frustrating opening 30 minutes away at Blackpool, the necessity to start fast wasn't lost on Cole; "In the first half we had the gam plan to stay in the game early, not conceding early and staying together as a unit. We stayed committed and when Jayden got the first goal it relieves a little bit of the nerves for the players on the pitch and for the supporters too."
The Grecians now look ahead to Saturday where they will travel to Home Park for the second Devon Derby of the season, an exciting prospect for the City man and his teammates; "We need to make sure that we take the positives from today and brush up on a few of the things maybe Doncaster found joy in, and work on the training pitch ahead of another match against the rivals down the road."
