Newby opened the scoring early for the hosts following a slick move, before Malcolm doubled the lead in the second-half with a towering header. Captain Jack Fitzwater made it 2 in 2 as he headed home late but City couldn't find an equaliser.
Speaking after the match, Vinnie said: "It's obviously disappointing to lose, but we knew we were coming up against a top side and it was going to be a tough game. I think we limited them to quite a bit. Although they had great rotations and stuff like that, I think we just probably needed to believe a lot more in the first 20 minutes that we were going to win, and we probably started to believe a bit too late.
"It's just belief. I think if we need to start getting into games, believing a lot more that we can win. Especially it showed that Accrington that we believed and we went out there and put a great performance in and then their second goal conceding from a corner. It's never ideal.
