City to celebrate supporter ownership with FC United of Manchester friendly

FC United of Manchester friendly

Exeter City will head to FC United of Manchester for a pre-season friendly on Saturday, July 19 to celebrate the Northern Premier League side’s 20th anniversary of supporter ownership.

The match will take place at FC United’s Broadhurst Park ground in Moston at 3pm.

FC United were formed in 2005 by disgruntled Manchester United fans who were opposed to Malcolm Glazer’s takeover and are now the largest wholly supporter owned club in the country. The club is democratically run by members who have equal voting rights and own one share each in the club.

They currently have 2,300 members who each pay £25 a year with each member entitled to a single vote at meetings. The club board is made up of 11 elected members.

They registered a 17th place finish in the Northern Premier League Premier Division in 2024/25.

Nick Hawker, Chair of Exeter City Supporters’ Trust said: "I’m really delighted to finally get this fixture sorted as we have been trying for a couple of years.  But to do it in FC United's 20th year feels appropriate, given we celebrated our own milestone last season. We’re two really special clubs who share similar values so I hope our supporters really get behind this game and, most importantly, have a great day out!"

Ticket details will be announced closer to the date.

Broadhurst Park

With a capacity of just under 5,000, Broadhurst Park is one of the biggest stadiums in the division and is located in Moston, north-east Manchester. It was opened in May 2015 following FC United’s ten year groundshare at Bury’s Gigg Lane, with the first match a friendly against Benfica B.
