Live football is back for the 25/26 season and we can't wait to see you back at SJP!

We know that visiting a football ground for the first time can potentially be a confusing and daunting experience. That’s why we’ve put together some information about Exeter City Football Club, for those planning to make their first trip to St James Park or first in a while!

How to get to St James Park

Location: St James Park is located in the heart of Exeter, and like many traditional stadiums, is built right into the surrounding community and is situated a short walk from the city centre.

Address: St James Park, Stadium Way, Exeter, EX4 6PX.

Despite being in the heart of Exeter’s bustling city centre, getting to SJP on match days couldn’t be easier!

BUS: Local Stagecoach buses drop off on several streets in the local vicinity (York Road, Pennsylvania Road, Prince Charles Road, Union Road, Sidwell Street, Old Tiverton Road, Pinhoe Road etc.). All of Exeter’s Park & Ride services drop off in the City Centre, which is a short walk away from the stadium gates. A maximum £3 fare is still in place for all local Stagecoach services. Exeter Coach Station is also less than half a mile walk away, offering both regional and nationwide services.

TRAIN: St James Park boasts the only operating matchday station in the whole of the EFL! The station shares a name with our ground, sits on the London Waterloo line out of the city & has regular services running from Exeter St. Davids, Exeter Central, Exmouth & Paignton. Passengers from London Waterloo should change at Exeter Central for services to St James Park. Passengers from London Paddington, Bristol Temple Meads, Birmingham New Street and further north should change at Exeter St. Davids.

CYCLING: There are a handful of racks available at the stadium, with extra capacity on nearby Sidwell Street should these areas be full. Exeter’s cycling network is continually improving and many of the surrounding streets have dedicated cycling infrastructure.

CAR: Due to our location, there is no supporter parking at the stadium, but several city-centre car parks are within close range. There is also limited on-street parking for considerate drivers. Wherever possible, we recommend the use of public transport, Park & Ride services, or active transport (walking & cycling) to reach St James Park on matchday.

From the M5: Exit westbound at Junction 29 onto the A3015 (Honiton Road). Follow the road onto the B3183 (Heavitree Road) for two miles, going past Royal Devon & Exeter Hospital. Take the fourth exit at the roundabout onto Western Way, and at the next roundabout take the second exit onto Old Tiverton Road. St James Park and Stadium Way are located on the left.

From the East: Follow the A303/A30 towards Exeter, passing under the M5 bridge, at Junction 29. Then follow the above instructions from the M5.

From the West: From the A30 or A38, follow signposts towards Exeter centre. After crossing the River Exe near Exeter St Thomas rail station, join the A3015 (Frog Street). Follow the one-way system and then exit onto the B3212 (Magdalen Street) and follow the road as it veers left towards the roundabout. Take the third exit at the roundabout into Western Way, and at the next roundabout take the second exit onto Old Tiverton Road. St James Park and Stadium Way are located on your left.

FLY: Exeter Airport is located just a few miles from the city centre and is served by both domestic and international flights.

Loganair fly from Edinburgh and Newcastle, Aer Lingus from Dublin and Belfast, and Blue Islands from Jersey. International flights are served by Ryanair and TUI from a number of popular holiday destinations.

The Stadium: St James Park

St James Park has a maximum capacity of 8,769 and consists of four stands, three of which are for home supporters and one which is entirely housing away supporters.

The Nevada Construction Stand is the main stand at St James Park and houses the changing rooms, tunnel, executive boxes, directors lounge, hospitality suites and dugouts. It holds just over 2,100 supporters and is an all-seater covered stand, offering great views of the action at both ends of the ground. Away fan seats are located in the Block K and L on the left hand side, if looking at the pitch.

Opposite this is the Optimising IT Adam Stansfield Stand, named in honour of our former no.9, who sadly passed away from cancer in 2010. This 1,600 capacity stand is the newest at SJP, replacing the old grandstand in 2018. The all-seater stand hosts the club’s only indoor concourse, where supporters can watch matches on the TVs and grab refreshments. There is also a family section in this stand, and corresponding Junior Grecians Kids Zone in the concourse. Like its predecessor it does not run the full length of the pitch, due to the very close proximity of a railway line running behind the corner of the ground, and is in fact slightly closer to the away terrace so it can be rectangular, the old one being tapered.

The Thatchers Cider Big Bank has a reputation of being the loudest and most buoyant of the stands. It is a covered standing-only terrace with a maximum capacity of just under 4,000 and is the largest standing terrace remaining in the EFL. The terrace is behind the goal, which offers an ideal view of goalmouth action at that end of the pitch. If you want to soak up the proper Exeter City match day experience, the Big Bank is the place to be.

The Tracks Suzuki St James Road Terrace is for away fans only and located at the opposite end to the Big Bank. It holds just over 1,000 away supporters and is sometimes split between home and away fans for higher profile matches where a low attendances allows for a split, though this is rare.

All four stands have dedicated disabled bays for supporters who use wheelchairs or require assistance. Our full disability policy can be found here

Match Tickets

While the majority of matches are not all-ticket, we highly recommend purchasing tickets in advance. Not only are tickets cheaper when purchased in advance but they ensure you can avoid the queues on match day. Buy advance tickets online or on your phone here.

If you decide to come to St James Park at the last minute, you can pay cash on the Big Bank turnstiles on the way into the stand, or by credit or debit card from the Ticket Booth in the Fan Zone if you want to be seated.

Please be sure to keep abreast of latest ticket news through the Tickets section on the website.

Please note that advance discount tickets can be purchased up until the day before a match. Tickets purchased on a matchday will be subject to an increase.

The Fan Zone

The covered Fan Zone houses the Exeter City club shop, an outside bar and the Junior Grecians Family Zone. There is also a dedicated catering facility providing hot and cold delicious local produce.

The perfect place to hang-out before a match is the Fan Zone, located in front of the club shop and reception. Each match, our friendly ambassador team will be handing out a sticker of a first team player which you can collect throughout the season, and you'll find our Supporter Liasion Officer Richard Knight hosting some kind of activity, such as Play Your Cards Right, where prizes include a signed match ball or shirt.

There will also be plenty of announcements, and if you're lucky enough you may even get the chance to read out the team sheet an hour before kick-off! When it's hot, you might even sneak a free ice lolly!

First time Visitors can pick up a welcome sheet from the Ambassador Team that defines all you need to know about Exeter City. If it is your first visit please let us know by emailing customerservices@exetercityfc.co.uk and we will endeavour to make it memorable for you.

The Fan Zone is the place to be and here supporters will find our outside Thatchers Bar, serving beers and ciders, as well as a brand new food kiosk.

Also in the Fan Zone is the Information Point which can help with any questions home or away fans have about St James Park or Exeter City. We also have a team of ambassadors around the stadium who can help with your questions, or direct you around the ground.

The Bars

First time visitors are welcome to join us for pre-match drinks in the Centre Spot Bar, located inside ‘The Park’ building, accessed via the fan zone.

The Centre Spot is home and away fan friendly and serves beers, ciders, wines and spirits as well as selection of locally sourced pies and pasties. Inside Centre Spot there is also the FECRACE (Famous Exeter City Real Ale and Cider Emporium) which serves local beers and ciders and run by a group of volunteers.

JG Zone

A feature wall displaying a packed Big Bank also provides a photo-sharing opportunity using the #jgzone hashtag. There are activities and competitions to suit all junior age groups, from EA FC25 and Table Football tournaments to free Activity Packs for younger children.

The Family Zone and Stadium Family areas are supervised by Junior Grecians volunteers who have undergone DBS checks and our aim is to make a family visit to St James Park as enjoyable and trouble-free as possible.

Family areas in the stadium

At St James Park, we have two dedicated Family Areas, which are perfect to watch the action from. These are Block E of the Nevada Construction Stand, which is the stand in which the dugouts and tunnel are located. We also have a small standing section of the Big Bank, which is clearly identified by the white barriers (the rest of the Big Bank barriers are red) - this allows our slightly taller youngsters a chance to stand amongst the most vociferous supporters.

For busier matches where Block E is sold out, we also recommend Block A in the Optimising IT Adam Stansfield Stand, located opposite the Selco BW Stand. Within this stand there is a small Junior Grecians fan zone, which includes table football, a picture wall and beanbags.

The Family Zones are identified in orange in the image below:

Meet the Mascots!

At Exeter City, we have two wonderful mascots - meet Grecian and Lexi the Lions! You can find Grecian and Lexi causing havoc around SJP on a match day! They might be lions, but they're the friendliest lions in town. Don't be afraid to stop them and ask for a photo, but be aware they'll probably try and play tricks on you!

If they aren't in the Junior Grecians Zone meeting our lucky VIP guests and excited youngsters, you'll likely see them pitchside before the game, trying their best to get involved in the players' pre-match warm up!

Join the Guard of Honour!

Want to be on the pitch as the players enter SJP? Then be part of the flag waving Guard of Honour!
